De Chalais aux chalets ... en passant par LES VOUALANS

The Voualans trail starts in Vercorin and descends into the Crouja valley. It leads to the Voualans refreshment bar and gîte, passes through the hamlet of the same name, made up of 19 largely dilapidated buildings, and then follows part of the Sarrasins bisse, renovated in 2014. Themes relating to the site's former vocation are explored: the buildings, the crops, the forest and the water.
The Voualans site
There was no shortage of fodder and crops, but access roads and the need for water were the major difficulties to overcome on this land. Left uncultivated for over 50 years, much of the land has been invaded by the forest. Some of the buildings have been renovated to make the most of the site for agricultural tourism.
The Voualans area is very popular with ungulates. Deer, roe deer and chamois are common sightings.

OUR ADVICE
Children (aged over 10) can sharpen their powers of observation and deduction with a little game (take a pen and paper with you).
